Exam Conduct

At Walnut School, we have a ZERO-TOLERANCE policy regarding copying and misconduct during exams. This is an essential part of upholding the integrity of the examination process.

Clear rules for students:

  • Any student caught copying, helping others, receiving answers, or talking during the exam will not be allowed to continue writing.
  • Even if such behaviour is found later, the entire exam will be marked zero.
  • Students should not engage in any conversation or behaviour that could be interpreted as copying. If another student is disturbing them, they must quietly stand up and report it to the supervisor.
  • Conversations between students for any reason are absolutely not allowed from the start to the end of the exam.

No appeal or discussion:

  • Parents will be informed that their child was involved in a copying incident via email.
  • There will be no discussion or appeal with parents regarding whether a student was copying.
  • The Principal or Vice Principal will conduct an internal review, and their decision will be final and binding.
  • This action will be recorded in the student’s permanent school record and will reflect on their leaving certificate under ‘Conduct’.
  • Depending on the severity, additional disciplinary action may follow.
  • Such conduct may also lead to expulsion from the school.

A matter of integrity:

Instances of copying are disheartening. In some cases, students may not share the full truth at home, or parents may unknowingly support them. This prevents learning and sends the wrong message about right and wrong.

We request you to speak with your child and help them understand the seriousness of this matter. This is an academic offence, and in public examinations, it may also be treated as a legal offence.

Writing exams honestly is a crucial life skill. Integrity and honesty are values we must build together.
