Academic Toppers : Evaluation Criteria

Std. 1 to 8:

How Top Ranks Are Calculated

Our Top Ranks are calculated based on the top 10% of the total class strength across all divisions.

For example: If there are 200 students in Std. 3, the top 10% is 20 students. A list is prepared in descending order of marks and the top 20 students are selected.

Ranks are then assigned based on marks within this group:

  • Students with the highest marks are awarded Rank 1
  • The next distinct set of marks gets Rank 2, and so on

However, in many cases — especially in primary standards (Std. 1 to 4) — multiple students score exactly the same marks.

If all selected students have the same marks:

  • They are all awarded Rank 1
  • Since there is no difference in marks, Rank 2 and Rank 3 are not applicable and remain blank

This system ensures consistency across all standards while fairly recognising top performers.

  • The overall score across all core subjects (Formative + Summative) is calculated and then ranked.
  • The top 3 rankers across the entire standard per campus are declared as that quarter's Academic Toppers.
  • The competition to appear in the top 3 ranks in the primary classes is very tough - the fractional percentage differences among the toppers is quite less!
  • Toppers are calculated after the marks are rounded off. Also there can be multiple toppers with the same rank - we appreciate all of them! Please do not worry about fairness. We will always be fair to our students 🙂
  • Please note: A student is considered for the Academic Toppers' list only if all the exams of the unit are taken in-person in the school as per the exam schedule. Online submissions are NOT considered in this case.

Std. 9 and 10:

  • The overall score across all six subjects (Formative + Summative) is calculated and then ranked.
  • The exam marks are rounded off to the nearest whole number as per the CBSE policy. The top 3 rankers across the entire standard per campus are declared as that quarter's Academic Toppers.
  • Please note: Students of Std. 9 and 10 are not allowed to appear for the exams remotely.
