Managing Worksheets at home

What should we do with the worksheets that come home?

KG: Just file the sheets that the child brings home. They do not need to come back to school. File sheets of different subjects in different files as has been shared with you in the material collection list.

Std 1, 2: Just file the sheets that the child brings home. They do not need to come back to school. File sheets of different subjects in different files as has been shared with you in the material collection list.

Std 3 to 10: When the sheet comes home, if there is HW on it, then that has to be done and brought back to school the next day. Once the homework is checked and the sheet is returned, it does not have to come back to school. File it and keep it at home.

The teacher tells the students in the class what the HW questions are. You can also get this information on the WalSH app in the daily academic updates. Check the WalSH tutorial for this.

Suggestions on how to file

We recommend using one big box file per unit for all the main subjects together. Keep them organised with separators. These should be filed daily — directly from the folder to the box file after they are received.

All the studying for exams per unit will then happen from one box file. So it will be easy to manage as all main subjects are in one place.

The activity sheets can go into separate files. Those can be kept in a separate bunch and filed once a week - maybe on Friday or Saturday.

So which subjects are main and which are activity?
Main subjects are MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, ENGLISH, SOCIAL STUDIES (History / Geography / Political Science / Economics all together are Social Studies), MARATHI and SANSKRIT (as applicable).

Check the file distribution table given on this page to understand what goes into the box file and what goes into the regular flat cardboard files. Check the entry for your standard.

We need to refer to the worksheets for the content taught in school and to prepare for examinations. The worksheets are the reference material for students to revise the concepts required for their periodic tests and unit exams.

How do we come to know about homework?

You can check it from what the student has marked on the worksheet when they bring it home. This is also seen in the curriculum update tab of the WalSH app, which is usually updated sometime before 6 pm every day.

What is to be done about homework?

Students from KG to Std 2 do not have homework. From Std 3 onwards, the student needs to complete the homework and bring it back to school the next day and hand it over to the teacher. Once it is checked, it is returned to the student to bring home and file.

What are the textbooks that we have to refer to?

You need to refer to the NCERT textbooks, novels and some state board textbooks mentioned in this list. Some special subjects in some standards do not have a separate textbook assigned — the study material for these is sent on the worksheets itself, as it is custom made for Walnut School students.
