About the Exam

Elementary and Intermediate are drawing exams conducted by the Directorate of Art, Government of Maharashtra. It works closely with the Maharashtra State Board of Art Education (MSBAE) to conduct these exams. These exams are good exposure for students who wish to pursue careers in fine or applied arts. You can check with the portals of admissions where you are planning to apply to check if the marks/grades of these exams actually count in entrance exams for those institutes. We have not been able to find this information on official websites and we do not really want to share speculations from unofficial blogs. We recommend you get factual information too, if the admission advantage is the reason that you are thinking of appearing for these exams.

Please note that there are absolutely NO additional marks associated with appearing for this exam that get added to the board exam result for CBSE students. (Still happens with SSC, but with CBSE there is NO such facility)

School Guidance for These Exams

Our Art teachers will happily guide those who are interested in improving their drawing skills and also provide further tips and techniques. However, do note that this is guidance. This is not an actual "drawing class". Walnut students have been doing quite well in these exams and the teachers' tips and tricks have made a big difference in their performance.

This guidance happens in the school on Saturdays only in the ART room between 11 am to 12 pm. Interested students should let the Art teacher know during the week, in advance, that they will be coming on a particular Saturday so the teachers will tell them what assignments they should do at home and then bring to show. The teachers will then guide them (so students have to carry some art material) and give them further assignments for the upcoming weeks.

Things to carry to Saturday guidance, if attending. Check with the teacher but these things are usually needed : Paper, Pencil, Crayons, Water colours, Scale, Geometric material etc.
